About Us
I’m Okan Sahiner, a developer based in Germany. I built OnlineFileConverter because I kept needing quick conversion tools that felt simpler and more privacy-friendly. So I built my own: browser-first where possible, no accounts, and free to use.
About the Maintainer
I am based in Berlin, Germany, and I have been working in IT since 2010.
My background includes software development, Linux systems, automation, and building reliable systems at scale. You can learn more about my background on my personal site at okansahiner.me.
Our Story
This site started from a very practical idea. A lot of online converters feel heavier than they need to be, bury the actual tool behind distractions, or make a simple task feel harder than it should.
I wanted to build onlinefileconverter.org as an alternative: a place where someone can open a page, pick a file, convert it, and move on without confusion. It started as a personal project, and I decided to publish it for everybody. I tried to integrate converters and tools to work on the browser side as much as possible, so people can use it with no privacy concerns.
How I Think About the Experience
I care a lot about keeping the experience lightweight, readable, and direct. That means simple pages, fast-loading layouts, and converter tools that are easy to understand, even if you only need them once. Files are deleted immediately after conversion. I don't store anything.
Instead of trying to turn every page into a complicated app, I focus on practical tools that solve common file problems with as little friction as possible.
What I Want to Improve
I am continuing to expand the site carefully, adding converter categories and improving reliability without losing the simplicity that makes the site useful in the first place.
That means improving formats, polishing the interface, and making sure the site remains dependable on both desktop and mobile devices.
A Personal Note
At its core, onlinefileconverter.org is meant to be the kind of tool people can trust when they just need something to work. No unnecessary complexity, no bloated experience, and no expectation that you should have to learn a new interface just to convert a file.
If the site helps someone save a few minutes, avoid a frustrating workflow, or get a file into the format they need without stress, then it is doing exactly what it was built to do.
